Tri-Luma Cream (Fluocinolone, Hydroquinone, and Tretinoin) for Melasma
what is triluma cream Tri-Luma is a combination of three ingredients – Fluocinolone, Hydroquinone, and Tretinoin. It is used in the treatment of moderate to severe melasma.
Tri-Luma (Fluocinolone, Hydroquinone, and Tretinoin) Uses:
Melasma:
- It is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face
Tri-Luma (Fluocinolone, Hydroquinone, and Tretinoin) Dose in the treatment of Melasma:
- Apply the topical cream as a thin film once a day to the affected areas until the disease is controlled.
- Treatment must not be prolonged beyond eight weeks.
Pregnancy Risk Factor C
- Tri-Luma has not been studied in pregnant women.
- Topical tretinoin is rapidly metabolized in the skin and has a low risk of teratogenicity.
- Topical tretinoin should be avoided in pregnancy especially during the first trimester.
- Topical corticosteroids can be used in pregnancy. However, higher doses and prolonged durations of treatment should be avoided as it can result in intrauterine growth retardation.
- Treatment should be delayed until delivery.
Use during breastfeeding:
- Contact between nursing infants and cream should be avoided.
